Flower Shot List

I’m so excited to partner with you on our upcoming wedding together! As a florist, I value my relationship with photographers immensely. Because of you, I’m able to showcase my work to future clients. You are a large reason for the success of my business, seriously! Please know that I have so much gratitude towards you. Thank you so much for being willing to look of my little flower shot list.

First and foremost, I want to reiterate that I completely trust your creativity and vision regarding your photographing style and eye. I would never want to overstep my bounds in regards to giving blatant directions on what “needs or should” be shot. I also completely understand that not all shots may be able to happen. It’s a wedding day! I’m familiar with how hectic those days can be. The shot wish list below is a very simple list. Key word being simple. I have no expectations since I already know whatever photos I do get back will be beautiful and perfect.

It means the world that you’d consider looking over my flower shot list preferences. I can hardly wait to sit all come together.

Wedding Party Flowers:

Bouquets should always be held “thumb to belly button” on the body. Ribbon should flow over the hand, if it is long and flow-y. The bridal bouquet should never be held completely upright, but tilted slightly down and off to the side. I call it the bouquet’s “good side” 🙂 If you are wondering what is the front or back, check the ribbon. Long ribbon will be tied in the front (to flow over the hand) and traditional tied ribbon will have a knot and pins in the back.

-I love having a bridal bouquet shot alone. Whether standing up, in a chair, flat lay, laying on the floor, etc.

-A shot of the bride holding the bouquet, shots from multiple sides. My personal favorite is a shot straight on at the front of the bouquet.

-A shot of the boutonnieres on a flat lay.

-A close up shot of the boutonnière on the groom.

-The bridesmaid bouquets all being held by the bridesmaids.

Ceremony Flowers:

Our ceremony installations and/or urns are typically what I’m most excited about for a wedding. Getting multiple shots close but also far away (to see the entirety of an installation) is always a huge bonus for me. Having shots with and without people is always nice to have, too!

-A separate shot of each ceremony design. For example: the installation, entrance urns and aisle decor, etc.

-A room and/or “aisle” shot getting each design piece in one photo.

Reception Decor:

It may seem surprising, but I hardly get reception photos that showcase my flowers. These are the photos that I lack most of for my portfolio. There are typically multiple table designs, and having a photo of each is always a plus. Again, having photos without people is a bonus 🙂

-A single shot of each table design (centerpiece, greenery, tall centerpiece, etc.)

-Shots of the head table design.

-A room shot.

-Any accent decor shots. (close details and far away to see entirety of the installation or decor.)

Highly recommend Roots Floral Design - absolutely beautiful!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

-Laura, Summer 2019 Wedding

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

THE FIRST TIME I MET HER I FELT AS THOUGH  I MET A LONG LOST FRIEND.

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
