What to do with the Flowers after your Wedding so they don’t go to Waste

We spend months, even years, planning the who, what, when, where, and how when it comes to your wedding flowers. But have you ever thought about what happens to the floral arrangements after your event? The wedding and event industries create a lot of waste, but here at Roots Floral Design we’ve aimed to become a completely waste free company. This will take months, possibly even years, to perfect but with each passing season we continue to get creative and we keep chipping away at our waste block.

 

A question I get asked often is, where do the flowers go after a wedding? 

 

Flowers themselves are a large part of what can be thrown in the trash after an event. While the question above is valid, in the past it often depended on the event itself. Some couples and families do not desire to take home any flowers after the event. Other times my team and I will stroll into the venue finding family and friends picking over each arrangement trying to get each and every last stem. With the first scenario, we found ourselves throwing entire floral designs away. While we wish we could keep them, my team must prepare for the next event. In the second scenario, my team found that centerpiece vases and vessels would often go missing or become damaged. This was a pain point I was determined to solve.

 

And that’s how my Flower to Vase program was born. So what exactly is this program?

 

The quick gist of it is that we take your table arrangements and rearrange them into mini centerpieces for your guests and vendor staff to take home. Your wedding flowers will last up to 8 additional days after your event. Not only do we ensure that I receive all my rental items back; but your wedding flowers will continue to bring joy long after your special day is over. 

 

Let’s dive into the program a little deeper.

 

I will be coordinating with your wedding planner and venue coordinator to secure our arrival time and to ensure we have everything that we need to execute the program. I prefer my team to be rearranging in an area not seen by guests so we are not a distraction. I provide the right height vases (centerpiece stems are very short!) and ensure that each mini arrangement is beautifully designed. We have a cute sign that we place on the table so that when your guests start to leave they know that it is okay to go ahead and grab a vase!

 

Why is this program beneficial?

 

Typically at the end of the night my couple and their families are busy socializing with their guests and attending to other responsibilities. Since my team needs to be in compliance with the venue and their strike time, my team tears down extremely fast. It always pains my heart when we clean up and then the family asks to take home the flowers. To avoid going into the trash or adding additional stress to family and friends, I would much prefer that a beautiful arrangement is created for them to take home and enjoy instead!

 

This is great! So, how much is it?

 

My Flower to Vase program is $350 for 50 arrangements. It is an additional $50 per 25 arrangements.
