There are a few things you need to know before making the floral decisions for your wedding. Here are 5 tips to keep in mind before your big day!

Research blooms in season

The season matters when it comes to flowers. Ordering blooms out of season will drive your costs through the roof and oftentimes out of season flowers aren’t the best quality. Your florist will more than likely already have an idea in mind of what flowers to order for your wedding, but it’s always good to have your expectations set straight beforehand. It’s always hard when a bride wants Peonies for her autumn wedding. Do you research beforehand to know that will most likely not be a possibility. Embrace the season you are getting married in an use in-season flowers for your arrangements.

Consider the environment

We are proud of our commitment to staying as eco-friendly as possible. We use chicken wire and floral frogs for all of our centerpiece designs, thus eliminating the use for floral foam. Floral foam is a one time use mechanic that takes years to decompose. It is one of the biggest waste factors in the floral industry and is terrible for the environment. Chicken wire and frogs on the other hand can be reused year after year. Not only does this help the environment, but it helps our client’s costs as well since we don’t need to order foam on a weekly basis. We hope to eventually become a complete floral foam free company in the future (we still use foam for some of our installations).

Think big picture

When it comes to choosing your floral color palette, think big picture. What color will your bridesmaid dresses be? Is your venue neutral or bright in color? It’s a tough balance trying to please our clients preferred color palette while also wanting to be cohesive with the rest of the wedding day elements. Come to your florist with an general color palette and allow them to fill in the accent colors. Not only will your color palette be unique to you as a couple, but it will compliment the rest of your wedding day designs. If you have a wedding planner, make sure they meet with your florist to ensure cohesion.

Get creative

With millions of weddings being planned around the world, why not do something different? This is the fun part! Work alongside your florist to come up with unique table designs and installations that will truly make your wedding day memorable. Create Pinterest boards, sketch out ideas, and do venue walkthroughs. Your florist has the creative mindset to really come up with something amazing if you allow them!

Trust your florist

Last of all, trust your florist. This is what they do for their career! It is not their first rodeo and they know what works and what doesn’t. Questions and concerns are common and welcomed, bring them on! But also know that floral designer knows what they are doing and will help make your dream wedding day come to life.
