The moments leading up to your wedding day can be packed full with checklists and items to do. To help relieve some of that stress so you can focus on what is most important, here are some tips that will help make sure the flowers on your wedding day are perfect.

How to hold the bouquet

Your bouquet is the most important arrangement that your florist will design for you. It will be seen walking down the aisle, photographed in all the photos, and displayed throughout the reception. I design my bouquets to have a front, sides, and a back. While I strive to make sure the bouquet looks great from all sides, we definitely want to make sure we hold that beauty of flowers from the front. The best way to tell if you are holding the bouquet right is to see where the ribbon is tied. All of my ribbon is tied and pinned on the front of the bouquet, giving the ribbon a sense of fullness. In the back of the bouquet the ribbon is tightly wrapped. I also try to allow the back of the bouquet to have mostly greenery with just a few pops of blooms. Below are some great examples of brides holding the bouquet correctly.

How to protect your ribbon and the bouquet from water

To ensure that your bouquet lasts as long as possible, whenever you are not holding your bouquet we need to place it in water. Each of my brides recieve a complimentary clear vase that they can put their bouquet in for in between photos and during the reception. Water is a flower’s best friend but we also need to take into consideration of other elements. Each bouquet is taped with floral tape and waterproof tape. The floral tape holds the bouquet together, while the waterproof tape ensure that the floral tape doesn’t fall apart in case it gets wet. Always make sure that the water is at least two inches below the tape. As long as the very bottom of the stems are in water, the bouquet will hydrate. Not only do we want to make sure the floral tape isn’t in sitting water, we also want to protect your ribbon. We tie all of our bouquets with silk, which allows for a beautiful, flow-y movement when the bride walks. The only problem with silk is that when it gets wet, it wrinkles. Having the water only a couple inches at the bottom of the vase will ensure your beautiful ribbon stays dry.

What to do if the boutonniere magnet falls off

Yep, you read that right. Magnets. I, along with every groomsmen, hate pins. All of our boutonnieres are secured with magnets. Weddings are a day of joy and celebration. Hugging and jumping for joy is encouraged! Sometimes during the celebrations, a magnet will come loose. Each boutonniere has a magnet on the top and bottom. If your top one comes loose and is lost, we suggest taking the magnet from the bottom to replace. We also provide each couple with extra pins in case they lose both their top and bottom magnet. To pin the boutonnière back on, place the pin on the back of the jacket lapel. Pin through the lapel and insert the pin into the back of the boutonnière. Weave the pin through the boutonnière and insert back into the jacket lapel. Although losing both magnets has happened, it is extremely rare. If you look closely, you will be able to see the bottom magnets on these boutonnieres below.

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
