Wedding Tips | Invest in Your Vendors Wisely

Our wedding tip today is from Cincinnati wedding photographer, Christina, from Function and Flourish. A tip that I’m constantly giving to all brides and grooms is to invest in your vendors wisely. “I’m not just saying this because I’m a wedding photographer but because I truly believe that you get what you pay for. You want to be confident in who you hire to orchestrate your wedding day. I’ve actually had a bride reach out for a 1 year anniversary session to put her dress on again and expressed that she deeply regretted going cheap. Don’t do that. You only have 1 wedding; make it count! Not everyone is a florist and can do what they can do and know what they know – invest well. Not everyone who has a fun personality can move along a reception smoothly like a professional DJ can – invest well. Not everyone has vision, a big picture mindset, and connections like a wedding planner does (you don’t want your mom stressed to the max on your wedding day!) – invest well.”

Michael and I met five years ago on a random camping trip in Red River Gorge, Kentucky. We have since then gotten married, had two beautiful babies; Gideon and Millicent, and began this amazing wedding photography business known as Function and Flourish. While our roots are growing here in Cincinnati, we are also ready and willing to travel and to capture elopements and weddings essentially anywhere around the world; we long to take in the wonder of what our Creator has made while capturing two lovely souls becoming one.

 We came up with our business name after decorating our first Christmas tree together. Michael put the tree together and then I decorated it; and thus he became “Function” and I became “Flourish”. It’s been the theme throughout our marriage. While we both dabble in making things work well and also making our images look beautiful; we each stay primarily true to our natural roles. We’ve found that we compliment each other best in this way; that Michael is the technical guru while I focus on making things look beautiful.

Together, we invest in our clients and genuinely care about the wedding planning, the wedding day, and the marriage. Our ideal couple values one another first, us and photography second, and everything else after that. They trust us and our expertise throughout the day and with their timeline. It’s evident to everyone that they love each other. They are authentic, tactful, and genuine.
