Winter may not quite be over yet, but I love thinking ahead to warmer temps — and gorgeous summertime weddings! Between longer days and colorful sunsets, there’s a lot to love about a wedding during that time of year.
If you can’t stop dreaming of a garden wedding in the peak of summer, this blog post is for you. Read through the list below to see which flowers are in season between June and August, and start to collect some inspirational ideas for your big day!
Poppy – The poppy flower is a beautiful, small bloom that is a great option as secondary blooms in a bouquet. Some of the most popular colors for weddings are yellow/orange, red and white.
Craspedia – I love the texture craspedia can bring to any floral arrangement! Also known as a sun ball or drumstick flower, these yellow round blooms offer a nice “pop” of color and can tolerate the summer heat pretty well.
Alstroemeria – If you’re really going for a garden wedding style with a tropical spin, the alstroemeria flower may be a lovely option to incorporate into your floral decor!
Chrysanthemum – For a stunning focal bloom in bouquets with several layers of petals, consider the chrysanthemum. These flowers also come in a wide range of colors and styles, just perfect for a summer garden wedding!
Dahlia – Another large bloom that is bound to make a statement that strays from the traditional wedding bouquet is the dahlia. It’s romantic, dreamy and bold!
Hydrangea – For summer weddings with a blue, soft purple or pink color palette, the hydrangea is a beautiful choice.
Sunflower – Starting in late summer, the ever-popular sunflowers begin to bloom and are always a practical in-season flower to consider!
Cosmos – One of my favorite flowers to use in bouquets and other floral arrangements is definitely the cosmos! And if you are a big fan of darker colors (and the aroma of chocolate!) you will love chocolate cosmos — a velvety appearance with a heavenly scent.
Wildflowers – And for a look that stays more on the organic side — think: natural hillside gardens away from the city limits — talk with your wedding florist about foraging for wildflowers for your big day!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond. Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
