Wedding Tips- Why Your Florist Should Always Help With Styling

Why Your Florist Should Always Help With Styling

Detail shots. Every bride and wedding vendor knows what I’m talking about. If you troll Pinterest, you’ll find hundreds of boards dedicated to close up shots of shoes, perfume, invitation suites, wedding flowers, and many other small details. As a wedding florist and past bride myself, I love that the new norm for photographers is to take close ups of the small details that make up your wedding day. By using wedding flowers (which you will be ordering anyways!) you can add an organic touch to the more intimate and special details from your wedding day.

I offer customizable wedding flower services to my brides. One of the reasons why I do this is because each wedding and love story is drastically different from the next. I like to think that my arrangements are truly unique to each of my couples and their love story. Having your wedding photographer photograph those tiny but impactful details from your wedding day will truly allow you to look back on your wedding day and see just how special and unique it was to you and your spouse. If your photographer doesn’t ask for these details, put them aside in a box for them! Your invitation suite, the perfume and cologne you are wearing, jewelry, etc.; these are all small details that made your day special to you.

But don’t just take it from me. I’ve asked Christine Kim from Ji Cherir Photography for her input.

“Ask your florist to supply some loose flowers and greenery. It’s the perfect organic element for your detail layouts and gives it more of a romantic look”

Christine, who is a Cincinnati fine art wedding photographer, has a true talent in photographing these detail layouts. You can view her most recent work and see her styled layouts here and here. If you look at the photo examples in these blog posts you can see how much more soft and romantic the detail shots become when you add a little bit of natural organic-ness (flowers!). Your florist will probably already have flowers set aside for these photo (because we love it so much too!), but it never hurts to ask. When your wedding vendors come together, magic happens.

“Hello! I’m Christine!

I moved to Queen City in 2015 from Los Angeles; I’m obsessed with ramen noodles and my son Henry. Before I became a full-time wedding photographer, I was a science teacher teaching in Bangkok, Thailand.

Photography was a huge part of my life, as a kid, I would beg my mom to buy me those disposable cameras before digital cameras were even a thing. I think the reason why I love photography so much is the magic behind it, capturing and freezing that exact moment in time for you to keep forever.”

Highly recommend Roots Floral Design - absolutely beautiful!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

-Laura, Summer 2019 Wedding

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
