Wedding Tips-Do you really need a second shooter on your wedding day?

Do you really need a second shooter on your wedding day?
As a wedding florist, I have not only been to a lot of weddings, I have also seen all of my couple’s wedding day galleries. I can testify that having a second shooter for your wedding day is worth it! Here’s why:
1) Second shooters allow for another point of view. As creative entrepreneurs, we find beauty in different things and we also capture beauty differently. Having a second shooter on  your wedding day will allow for a variety of unique photos taken by two different but talented photographers.
2) Does your photographer capture you walking down the aisle, or your future spouse watching you walk down the aisle? Your photographer will most likely capture both, but moments are definitely missed while they toggle back and forth. Having a second shooter allows each photographer to focus on one person and therefore captures all the important and tender moments.
3) Having a second shooter allows for a more seamless wedding day process. Along with taking photos, a second shooter can assist with equipment and gear making sure it is set up and ready to go as soon as the lead photographer needs it. While the lead photographer photographs a certain family, and second shooter can photograph another. This allows the couple to receive all the photos they want on their wedding day, but it gets done in half the time so the couple and their families can get back to enjoying the day with each other.
To receive a photographer’s point of view on this topic, I’ve asked my friend Caroline, who is a fine art wedding photographer in Cincinnati, to give us some insight.
“Yes you really do need a second shooter!  Why?  They are my extra set of hands, while I am busy photographing the Bride and her Bridesmaids, I could have my second shooter photographing the Groom and Groomsmen, details, or family.  That is such a big help during the day!  The more efficiently we use our time, the more photos the client will get in return, and no one will feel rushed on the wedding day.  Feeling stressed, especially for time, can damper the day, by having a second shooter with a lead photographer we can properly get our work done, have time to create beautiful imagery and capture all of the precious moments between loved ones throughout the day.”

Highly recommend Roots Floral Design - absolutely beautiful!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

-Laura, Summer 2019 Wedding

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

THE FIRST TIME I MET HER I FELT AS THOUGH  I MET A LONG LOST FRIEND.

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
