Roots Floral Design’s Favorite Greenery for Weddings

Over the last few years, couples have been integrating greenery into their wedding day more often — and I love it! Although it may not be for everyone, nearly any wedding theme, style or setting can look absolutely stunning with the right amount of foliage mixed in.
Some couples are even choosing a more unique approach by using only greenery, and the results can be so romantic! Whether you are considering this option, or you’re interested in which elements might blend well with your other florals, here are some of my top favorite greenery choices.

Italian ruscus

This classic greenery is fantastic, especially since it can be used for nearly everything from bouquets and hairpieces to table garlands and ceremony installations. Italian ruscus has a beautiful, bold green color that works well with a variety of other florals, so it’s definitely one to consider for almost any wedding.

Huckleberry

Looking for something to add more texture to your floral arrangements and decor? Huckleberry may be a great option for you! These little round berries typically come in colors of blue, black or red and can turn a typical wedding bouquet into something with a diverse and organic look that’ll make your floral photos “pop”!

Southern smilax

Also known as Jackson Vine, this lovely greenery blooms during summer and is another great choice for garlands down the aisle, tablerunners or winding down a grand staircase.

Huechera

Huechera is one of the most unique-looking foliage plants for wedding arrangements. It’s leaves are shaped like hearts (perfect for your big day!) and can range from darker, bold colors to a more silvery green color.

Nagi

The Nageia nagi, or Asian bayberry, often comes from the areas of China, Japan and Taiwan. It has a dark, glossy green color, and is a beautiful choice to combine with a variety of other florals.

Lemon leaf

This greenery has leaves that are a bit wider and lighter in color than the others mentioned in this list. Lemon leaves also grow on thicker, sturdier stems that are easy to work into bouquets and centerpieces.

Seeded eucalyptus

The color sage is all the rage these days, and seeded eucalyptus has become one of the most popular greenery elements used for weddings throughout the year. It’s a softer shade of green, which might be why so many brides love using it in their bouquets, and as garlands for their wedding day decor.

Highly recommend Roots Floral Design - absolutely beautiful!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
