Summer Wedding In Kentucky

This perfect summer wedding in Kentucky is what every florist dreams of. When a bride says, “Flowers make or break a wedding.”, you know you’ve found your ideal client. I know it may seem biased since I’m a florist, but it is true! Flowers really can either make or break a wedding. The new trend for weddings is to have flowers be the main source of decoration, and if that is case then it will be important have a bigger budget to accommodate that. This is especially important if you plan to have your event indoors. Flowers invite the outdoors in and always enhance the atmosphere. Once you see the pictures from this beautiful wedding I think you will agree!

Our bride, Katelyn, wanted the classic look of white flowers with vibrant greenery. Her wedding venue had modern architectural elements so the soft touch of white and the organic flow of the greenery help tone down the cold feel that modern venues often display. The outcome was perfect in every way.

The Ceremony

Can you believe the view? The Vista at Cedar Hills sure knows how to pull at the heart strings. What a perfect backdrop to exchange vows and promises of love. Our additions of southern smilax to the pergola gave it a more organic feel, tying in nature. We wanted the design to feel natural so we added greenery to the columns and had them work their way up to the top, to seem like it had all grown from the earth. This additional greenery also help tie in the rest of the venue’s landscape, making it seem it was already there from the beginning.

The bridal bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets had classic white flowers such as garden roses, ranunculus, and listhianthus with added several kinds of eucalyptus to bring in that greenery our bride wanted. Are you drooling over the bridesmaid dresses? They are just stunning. The soft purple/blue of the fabric were a perfect backdrop for the bouquets to pop. We ordered Silk and Willow ribbon to enhance the bouquets and help tie the rest of the wedding party colors. In my opinion, ribbon adds so much whimsy and interest. It is a suggestion I always make to my brides. Katelyn had a dark blue velvet ribbon from her late Grandma’s dress that she added. We love it when our brides are sentimental. What a special way to honor your loved ones.

The groom and groomsmen had a simple white rose for their boutonniere. Simple indeed, but perfect. We love these photos of the whole wedding party together, what a good looking group!

The Reception

We created long garlands to go on the farmhouse tables, with centerpieces and accent bud vases in between. The centerpieces helped break up the ongoing length of the garland, adding interest to the tables and allowing the eye to travel. Candle votives were lit to give a romantic feel. Each tiny detail may seem small close up, but when you bring it all together the final outcome is extraordinary.

A favorite of mine from the wedding was the photo booth backdrop. Katelyn found geometric shapes to hang from a wooden frame and we added greenery to hide the string and bring in that natural element. Seems simple, but again it brought in the outdoors and tied in the rest of the wedding. With the geometric shapes being so modern, the greenery softened it without taking away from the overall piece.

The couple’s wedding cake was simply a masterpiece. The caramel dripping down was mouth watering. I didn’t want to take away from the beauty of the cake so I only added a small arrangement. We put greenery along the bottom and accent bud vases on the sides to help enhance the cake table and to keep the flow of the organic look we were trying to achieve.

Conclusion

This wedding is a favorite for 2016. It was one of the bigger weddings that we did this summer and I couldn’t have done it without my team. A huge thank you to them, they know who they are. I also have to thank the photographer, Shannon, for being such a doll to work with and capturing these amazing photos. As a florist it is so important we get photos so we can share them with our future clients and fans. So thank you, Shannon!

We loved combining the modern and organic elements together. Overall it created such a timeless and classic look. Josh and Katelyn were the sweetest couple and I wish them all the happiness in the world.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
