2019 Flower Trends: Why your flower colors shouldn’t be White, Blush, or Burgundy
This may make me hated among newly engaged couples, but I’m going to brave the potential hate messages I’ll receive to talk about a trend I hope to see in 2019.
Let me first start by saying this: I really love an all white and green wedding. There is nothing more classic and timeless about it. Some of my favorite flowers come in blush. That light pinkish hue is the perfect transition color. And burgundy…the color that can go with any season depending on how heavy or light the color is throughout the arrangement.
What I’m trying to say is: I don’t hate these colors. In fact, I will more than likely use these colors in almost all my weddings in 2019.
HOWEVER, there are hundreds of other color palettes and combinations that are far more romantic and interesting that we can do for your wedding day.
Let’s talk about the why. Why we shouldn’t have these colors be the main focus of our flower arrangements.
It’s been done 1 million times
You may think that is a slight over exaggeration, but honestly I don’t think it is! Just the past year alone I had over ten weddings with the colors of white, blush, and burgundy. I had even more brides who desired that color palette, but I was able to convince them to bring in other tones and hues.
This color palette, although stunning and beautiful (because I mean all flowers are beautiful!) has been done in millions of weddings across the world. Your wedding day should be special to you! I desire each of my brides to have their own unique flower designs and color palette.
There are far more intriguing options out there
Flowers come in such a wide range of colors that we are really doing nature a disservice by only using the classic whites, blushes, and champagnes. By adding in just one more color, we can really change the overall feel of an arrangement. Earthy tones, a pop of a bright color, and adding in textures are just some of the 2019 flower trends I see coming.
Taking it one step further, brides whose color palettes are off the beaten path become the trendsetters for future wedding designs. The weddings with interesting and new color palettes and design elements are what get picked up by wedding blogs and magazines, shared across millions of social media accounts, and become a look that future brides will pay the big bucks for. Believe me, nothing is cooler than having a wedding that you and your bride designed together get so much love from people all around the world. See my favorite color palettes from last year below. A shift is happening in the wedding world
I have foreseen this shift coming for a while but now I feel like it’s really happening in 2019. Couples are realizing that Pinterest may not always be the best place to get all of their wedding inspiration. More now than ever are newly engaged couples are putting their complete trust in their wedding vendors. Because of this, your florist and wedding planners are able to really bring out their talents fully to create a one-of-a-kind wedding just for you!
These incredible weddings don’t always get seen during a brides scroll on Pinterest. There is so much of the same inspiration out there I feel like some brides come to be brainwashed with what they feel they have to do instead of really enjoying figuring out their own wedding style. My favorite wedding from 2018 where both the color palette and overall design was unique was David and Emily’s wedding. By combining their religious and family heritages with a few of their favorite things; they really had a wedding that was truly special and just for them.
Be different from everyone else!
In a world where there is so much of the same thing going on, be the change 😉 Nothing gets my heart racing faster than a bride who comes to me with an idea or concept I’ve never seen before! I know I’m not the only florist who feels the same way. Give your wedding vendors the gift of a good heart workout by being open to something new and exciting!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”
-Laura, Summer 2019 Wedding
"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond. Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."
-Grace, Spring 2019 Wedding
"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
