Wedding Tips | Cut the Guest List

Newly engaged couples now a days want it all on their wedding day. There are countless blogs, magazines, and Pinterest boards where brides can find and receive inspiration. The design options are endless! While technology has made it easy for us to find our wedding styles, it has unintentionally created a problem.

The wedding industry as a whole as evolved over the past few years. Couples are wanting their decor to be specific to them and their love story. Gone are the days where weddings look like every other wedding before them. This change in the wedding world has myself, along with a lot of other wedding vendors, giddy with excitement! We love designing and creating new things and we are very happy the wedding industry has evolved into this. With this new trend however, couples are finding that custom made and “unique to them” decor is pricey.

The unintentional problem is the money. It always seems to come down to that doesn’t it? The good news is, you can still have your perfect wedding day! But you will need to cut down on something.

We’ve asked Kristin, a wedding planner who owns The Gifford Collective, to give us some insight on how we can get the best of both worlds.

“Struggling to get under budget? Cut the guest list. Surround yourself ONLY with the people that mean the most to the two of you. You may ruffle a few feathers but, trust me, you’ll be relieved when you’re not meeting people for the first time on your big day.”

Cutting the guest list is something a couple and their families rarely want to do, but if you think about it, it is the reason why everything is adding up. Your venue space, catering, table decor, and cake pricing all have to do with how large your guest list is. By cutting down the guest list, you can still have that awesome food truck, your favorite live band, or those beautiful custom made flower centerpieces on your wedding day.

Highly recommend Roots Floral Design - absolutely beautiful!

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
