Roots Floral Favorite Focal Flowers for Bouquets
When I create bouquets for my brides, there are a few key ingredients I consider in order to make a piece that suits the theme, setting and style. One of the most important pieces to select for a perfect bouquet is the type of focal bloom — or largest focal flower — to be the most eye-catching part of the collection.
My heart definitely leans more towards the soft, muted, light and deep styles and colors of flowers. If you’re looking for ideas for a romantic and organic feel for a bouquet, here are some great ideas for focal blooms to get you started.
My Top Favorite Focal Flowers
Garden Roses – Roses are not only a great traditional choice, but they are beautiful, timeless flowers that make for a fantastic option as a focal bloom in a bride’s bouquet.
Peonies – These beautiful blooms are gorgeous for romantic, garden style bouquets. They truly offer a nice texture and just the right amount of color — perfect for spring or summertime weddings!
Dinner Plate Dahlias – These flowers are absolutely stunning, offering an oversized look to a bouquet or centerpiece that will truly make a bolder statement!
Anemones – Although these are smaller blooms than many others out there, I love the simplicity and elegance they can bring, especially when you combine them with seeded eucalyptus or other greenery.
Iceland Poppies – Another beautiful option to bring in a little bit of color into a spring or summer bouquet is the Iceland poppy.
Secondary Focal Blooms I Also Love
Majolica Spray Roses – These smaller roses are great to balance out larger blooms, while still offering a feminine and classic touch.
Ranunculus – I love how unique ranunculus flowers really are. They are also a stunning look, especially since they come in colors we don’t often see in bouquets and centerpieces.
Lisianthus – For brides who like the look of roses but want something slightly different, lisianthus flowers are a great option. They offer a similar style, but with a little twist.
Carnations – With a bit more texture than other flowers, carnations can bring in a beautiful look to a garden style bouquet.
Tulips – Looking to be more unique than your everyday bride? Tulips might be a good fit for you! I personally love the softer and deeper colors you don’t find often in bouquets these days.
