One of my favorite things about being a floral designer is having the opportunity to turn a simple venue into a romantic setting — especially for more intimate weddings like this one for Valerie and Doug!

Since this sweet couple were celebrating their second marriage, they wanted to focus more on their love and less on all the details. Valerie and Doug decided to have a small ceremony surrounded by only their closest friends and family at the place where they had their first date: the Cliff Dining Pub in Draper, Utah. Although this isn’t typically a wedding venue, the Pub was excited to host its first wedding for these two lovebirds and even created custom menus and napkins for the event!

The restaurant also had a perfect little gazebo for Valerie and Doug to say their “I dos” under. Although it was fairly simple as-is, Valerie wanted to transform the structure into something more beautiful with flowers and garland. I loved putting it all together, and the flowers we used transformed the gazebo from plain to romantic!

She also wanted some traditional flowers, but not a bouquet that looked like anyone else’s. To achieve a look that blended traditional with unique, we used quicksand garden roses and majolica spray roses, combined with other blooms like ranunculus, brunia and lisianthus to add more texture and shape for a truly organic vibe.

The results were simply romantic and elegant — perfect for an intimate wedding.
