The Perfect Fall Wedding Bouquet

With each season there are different reasons for why I love my flowering job. Sometimes it is the weather, other times it is the availability of flower options. And sometimes I love a particular season (Winter I’m looking at you) because of the downtime. Let’s face it, we could all use some downtown. Alright, let’s move on to the whole reason why this blog post was written, the season of Fall. The average Fall wedding has become my absolute favorite kind of wedding to design. The weather is finally cooling down, allowing the delicate blooms to embrace the sunshine, instead of wilting away. There are still a ton of variety, some flower options are out of season, but you can still grow most. But I think the real reason why I just adore these Fall wedding so much is because of COLOR!

The Season Where Color Comes Alive

Don’t get me wrong, I’m obsessed with the classic white and green scheme. I even find the overdone champagne, blush, and cream palette to be just lovely. If I’m being really honest though, it gets a tad bit boring after awhile (I think I would cry though if I went through a whole spring and summer without these color palettes so please trend gods do not let them ever go out of style). Brides who plan their fall wedding seem to love colors. If I had to guess, I think it has to do with the whole changing of the colors of the leaves. I really don’t care what the reason is, I just love getting to experiment with all sorts of color palettes. You have reds, plums, yellows, oranges…all of these really bright and deep hues.

The RoadBlock

Okay, I have a confession to make. Although color gets me really excited, certain color palettes also terrify me. Bright yellows and oranges, aren’t really my jam. The idea that I need to design with both of those colors in the same arrangements makes the butterflies go crazy in my belly. I think it is when someone says “fall” my brain instantly goes to those colors. Thankfully, that isn’t what we wanted to do with this wedding palette. With this particular bouquet, we wanted to stick with a color palette that could go winter or fall.

“What colors could do both?” I wondered.

I decided that I needed to go back to my roots. What did I love as a floral designer? Besides the obvious (that I like flowers) I really love texture and earthy, muted tones. I sat down and made a long list of the type of flowers that fit into both categories. Sometimes you have to take risks. I placed my order, not sure if the flower types I picked were even going to work out.

Letting the Flowers Speak for Themselves

The biggest thing I have learned as a designer is letting flowers speak for themselves. Holding up individual stems can actually tell you where the bloom wants to go, where it will naturally lay. In this color palette we have soft, muted earthy brown tones; paired with delicate cream roses; combined with stark reds and greens. Seeing each bloom laid out on my work table and you wouldn’t have expected the outcome to look that great. But somehow, all of these colors that are naturally found in nature together; well, came together.

“Kaytee is an absolute GEM! She has so much passion and care for what she does, that you feel like she's a friend more than a vendor. She walks you through each step of the floral process with organization, examples, cost, and detail -- all things that make my detail-oriented heart happy. The end result far exceeded anything we could have hoped for or imagined. ALL. THE. GREENERY. Future brides, run, don't walk to Roots for your wedding. From start to finish, she took care of every single floral need to make our day positively beautiful.”

FROM START TO FINISH, SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY SINGLE FLORAL NEED.

"Kaytee became so much more than a vendor for us. The first time I met her I felt as though I met a long lost friend. She was the very first vendor I chose for the wedding (even before the venue) and she lived up to all my expectations and went above and beyond.  Each time I met with her I felt confident that she completely comprehended my wants and would fashion them into something that looks put together, yet natural. The day-of she silently transformed a bland rustic space into an enchanting, romantic barn. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or unique."

"Kaytee was so great to work with!!! I provided her with some floral inspirations from Pinterest and Instagram but gave her a lot of free rein coming up with the flowers for our wedding and she went above and beyond expectations. Our photographer was obsessed with all the bouquets and we got so many great pictures of them! She did such a good job making my smaller budget work to make high impact arrangements. She's also the sweetest person to be around!"
